MONCTON, N.B. — After going to bed with freezing rain warnings already on their radar, plenty of people in New Brunswick and P.E.I. are waking up to snowfall warnings on Friday morning, Dec. 29.
Environment Canada issued additional weather alerts as the system already bringing freezing rain will transition over to snow later today and drop anywhere from 15 to 20 centimetres in southeast N.B. and Queens and Prince counties on the Island.
People in the northern half of mainland Nova Scotia, meanwhile, can expect the freezing rain to change to rain in the morning, and then to snow afternoon. Inverness and Victoria counties will see an extended period of freezing rain mixed with ice pellets which is forecasted to change to rain over southern areas in the afternoon before it all shifts to snow later in the day.
Environment Canada warns that surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery and poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
More to come.
