The Dominica Business Forum Inc. (DBF Inc.) will convene a Virtual Private Sector Discussion via Zoom at 5:30 P.M. on Thursday 5th October 2023 to discuss growing concerns about the political, social, and economic climate and its impact on doing business in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The meeting will concentrate on three main concerns:
1. The ongoing electricity power outages and load shedding which is adversely affecting businesses.
2. The increase in criminal activity: Where private sector enterprises are targeted as crime scenes and as the country enters the festive season, which runs right through Carnival 2024, what precautions can be taken to secure investments.
3. The unresolved Revised Electoral Legislation. The DBF Inc. has written to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica recommending the establishment of a broad-based committee to bring closure to the process.
The Dominica Business Forum Inc. extends an invitation to Dominica’s Private Sector to attend the Zoom Meeting at 5:30 P.m. on Thursday 5th October 2023 to discuss the aforementioned and other relevant issues with the objective of seeking an audience with the Government of Dominica to seek solutions to matters which have the potential of developing into a national crisis.
DBF Inc. recognizes that historically the private sector enterprises have suffered the brunt of any political, social, and economic unrest in the country as witnessed since 1979 and most recently in 2017.
