Noel doubles up as TT beat Dominica 5-0

Larry Noel scored a double to fire Trinidad and Tobago to a 5-0 win over Dominica on Sunday in their second match of the 2024 Concacaf U20 Championship qualifiers at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Micheal Chaves, who scored the last-minute winner against ST Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday, opened the scoring for T&T in the third minute.

Noel made it 2-0 after a Rio Cardinez shot was saved by Dominica keeper Ronny Lockhart.

The Salt Lake Community College forward then notched his double after Lockhart misjudged the bounce of a high ball, allowing Noel to tap into an unguarded net.

Cardinez then capped off a fine first half for Trinidad and Tobago, scoring after his initial shot was saved.

In the second half, Noel was brought down in the area which resulted in Lockhart being sent off.

Noel took the resulting penalty which was saved by substitute keeper Anton Wyke.

Wyke denied the Trinidad and Tobago attackers a few more times before substitute Derrell Garcia fired home a right-footed shot from inside the area.

T&T ran out 5-0 winners and will now face Canada in their final match on Tuesday needing to win to qualify for the Concacaf U20 Championship.

Both teams are on six points but Canada has a superior goal difference and will qualify if they win or draw on Tuesday.

Canada whipped St Vincent and the Grenadines 4-0 in the earlier game.
