Guadalupe County Narcotics Task Force finds drugs, guns in Seguin home during raid | Alert

Guadalupe County’s drug task force raided a home and arrested a pair of Seguin residents early Friday morning in the city.

Inside the house a man and woman share, authorities discovered illegal drugs, large amounts of cash, several guns and lots of ammunition, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Narcotics Lt. John Flores said.

“We knew they were drug dealers because we arrested them in January,” he said. “Then again through surveillance, we saw they were right back at it.”

Friday’s raid was the result of surveillance leading to a search warrant the Guadalupe County Narcotics Task Force served on a home about 12:10 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of East Donegan Street, Flores said.

While searching the home, they found more than 4 grams of cocaine, more than 285 grams of marijuana, about 50 grams of THC liquid cartridges, more than 30 grams of THC wax, 200-plus grams of psilocybin, around 2 grams of Adderall, four firearms, “bulk quantities of ammunition” and more than $10,000 in cash, Flores said.

“It was a buffet of drugs. They had vapes, mushrooms, wax, cartridges, guns, money, ammo,” he said before pointing out that the amount of ammunition at the house alarmed him. “It’s dangerous. It’s kind of scary.”

Authorities arrested 23-year-old Daniel Balderas and 20-year-old Alyssa Rodriguez, who were both in the home at the time of the raid. Both went to the Guadalupe County Jail and face a charge of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, between 4 and 200 grams; two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, between 4 and 400 grams; and possession of a marijuana between 4 oz and 5 pounds, Flores said.

According to online jail records, Balderas and Rodriguez remained held Friday under $175,000 each.

Online jail records also show that police arrested Balderas and Rodriguez earlier this year.

On Jan. 27, 2023, both were booked into the jail on possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia charges, with Balderas at the time also facing a weapons charge, according to jail records.

Each entered into a plea agreement in February that saw them fined after pleading guilty to Class C misdemeanors of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the online records.

Adjudication on the felony charges from the January arrests is still pending, Flores said.
