Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to lead delegation to China

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is set to embark on a significant journey this week as he leads a delegation to China to commemorate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Skerrit, addressing a news conference, revealed his forthcoming visit to Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese government. 

He emphasized the importance of marking this milestone, underscoring the substantial benefits Dominica has reaped from its partnership with China over the years.

Fruitful collaborations yield tangible results

Highlighting the tangible outcomes of this collaboration, Skerrit pointed to notable investments across various sectors in Dominica, including health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure development. 

He cited instances where China provided crucial support following natural disasters that struck the island, facilitating infrastructure rehabilitation and livelihood reconstruction.

Moreover, China’s assistance extended to combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with the provision of life-saving vaccines and essential health equipment.

Expressing gratitude and building relationships

Skerrit expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support, stating that China has been good to Dominica.

He eagerly anticipates the opportunity to convey the nation’s appreciation to Chinese leadership during his visit.
