Beachy Stout Trial: Contract Killer Confesses He Bought Guns From Haiti | RJR News

The prosecution’s key witness in the Everton ‘Beachy Stout’ McDonald murder trial on Tuesday confessed that he bought firearms from Haiti.

An argumentative Denvalyn Minott was reluctant to answer questions during cross-examination by defence attorney Vincent Wellesley. When asked about his participation in the trade of illegal firearms, he said “That is not your business, Sir.”

But Mr. Wellesley told the witness that it was the Ministry of National Security’s business and the ministry needed to know about him.

Earlier in the trial, Minnot, who testified that he is a fisherman, told the court that he along with Tonia attempted to purchase an illegal firearm from Beachy Stout’s co-accused Oscar Barnes on a beach in Portland.

The court was told that Tonia wanted to avenge her father’s murder.

Before Tuesday’s adjournment, Mr. Wellesley, who is representing Mr. Barnes, pointed out that the witness in his 25-page statement did not identify his client by name.

As he sought to poke holes in the testimony of the witness, Mr. Wellesley requested permission from presiding judge Justice Chester Stamp to have Mr. Barnes removed from the dock and stand face to face with the man who testified that he subcontracted him to kill Tonia.

At one point, Mr. Barnes’s tattoo on his lower left arm was displayed after his attorney asked permission for him to roll up his shirt sleeve.

Minott had testified that he shook Mr. Barnes’s hand but did not notice anything on his arms.

Mr. Wellesley suggested that Minott could not have noticed any tattoo because Mr. Barnes was not the man he subcontracted.

The witness clapped back saying “Yuh cyah tell me who mi meet.”

Mr. Barnes is also represented by attorney Ernest Davis.

He along with ‘Beachy Stout’ McDonald are on trial for the 2020 murder of McDonald’s wife Tonia.
