A Boost for Dominica’s Economy

UWP Unveils Major Agriculture and Tourism Forum to Boost Dominica’s Economy

In a significant move to stimulate Dominica’s economy, the United Workers Party (UWP), led by Dr. Thomson Fontaine, has unveiled plans for an Agriculture and Tourism Forum. This initiative, scheduled for the first half of the year, aspires to gather industry experts, policy makers, and citizens to craft a robust blueprint for enhancing the country’s agriculture and tourism sectors.

UWP’s Response to Declining Agriculture

The forum materializes as a response to the waning agriculture sector, with exports witnessing a precipitous decline under the current government. Dr. Fontaine took a critical stance against the present Dominica Labour Party (DLP) administration for its low economic growth, high youth unemployment, and an ailing healthcare system, among other pressing issues.

Revamping Agriculture and Developing Marijuana Industry

Dr. Fontaine pledged that if elected, the UWP will overhaul the agriculture sector, cultivate the marijuana industry, and champion value-added agro-processing. The party’s vision extends beyond these sectors to improving healthcare, education, and sports infrastructure. It also aims to address the dwindling financial sector and prioritize local businesses and workers.

Call for Unity and Diaspora Contribution

In a heartfelt appeal, Dr. Fontaine urged unity surpassing political bounds to resurrect Dominica to its former glory. He further encouraged the diaspora to contribute to the nation’s development. The UWP’s approach starkly contrasts with the DLP’s policies, which, according to Dr. Fontaine, have led to mismanagement, corruption, and the neglect of vital sectors.
