Another round of rain, snow coming to N.B.

Another winter storm will bring heavy rain and snow to New Brunswick to wrap up the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for most of the southern half of the province, including:

  • Fredericton and southern York County
  • Fundy National Park
  • Grand Lake and Queens County
  • Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County
  • Oromocto and Sunbury County
  • Saint John and County
  • St. Stephen and northern Charlotte County
  • Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County

Precipitation will begin as snow on Sunday morning before changing over to rain and persisting through Sunday night.

Between 25 and 40 millimetres are expected, with the highest amounts over southwestern regions of the province.

In addition, higher than normal water levels are possible for Grand Manan and coastal Charlotte County near high tide Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, a snowfall warning is in effect for most of northern New Brunswick, including:

  • Acadian Peninsula
  • Bathurst and Chaleur Region
  • Campbellton and Restigouche County
  • Edmundston and Madawaska County
  • Grand Falls and Victoria County
  • Miramichi and area
  • Mount Carleton – Renous Highway
  • Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville Area
  • Woodstock and Carleton County

Between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow is expected, with the highest amounts in the northeastern part of the province.

The snow will mix at times with rain for some areas Sunday afternoon and evening, according to forecasters.

There are no warnings for Greater Moncton and southeastern New Brunswick, but that does not mean there will be no precipitation.

Snow mixed with rain will begin Sunday afternoon and change to rain in the evening, with up to five centimetres of snow and 10 to 20 millimetres of rain.
