Haynes pleased with clean sheet against Dominica

Trinidad and Tobago U20 head coach Brian Haynes was pleased with his team’s performance against Dominica in the Concacaf U20 Championship Qualifier.

T&T beat Dominica 5-0 with Larry Noel scoring a double, with goals by Michael Chaves, Rio Cardines, and Derrel Garcia.

Haynes’ team must now beat Canada in their final match on Tuesday to qualify for the 2024 Concacaf U20 Championships.

“I was extremely happy that they completed the task. Two wins going into the last game against Canada, who also has two wins. But we’re at home so we intend to give it a good go, and, hopefully, come out with the victory,” said Haynes.

On the Canada match, Haynes said that he is formulating a plan to earn victory on Tuesday.

“We are going to spend most of the day tomorrow watching video and make sure we understand what their strengths are and try to find out what their weaknesses and come up with a game plan that will not only test them but make us very comfortable to win a game here at home against a formidable opponent,” he said.

Haynes should have star player Lindell Sween for the match, who he decided not to risk against Dominica.

“It is much better that he would be upset with me and be able to play against Canada than to be happy and play and gets hurt and can’t play against Canada,” he said.

Trinidad and Tobago play Canada on Tuesday from 7pm at the Hasely Crawford Stadium for a place in the 2024 Concacaf U20 Championship.
