Meet the New Jersey pups and pooches in the National Dog Show
New Jersey dog breeders will look to shine and are hopeful their pooch trots away with the grand prize at the National Dog Show, scheduled for later this month at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks.
New Jersey breeders submit strong entrants to the national dog show
Here are the New Jersey-based breeders and the dogs they have entered into the National Dog Show:
- Heidi Clayton, Pennsauken: Clayton has entered Miso Soup, a 3-year-old female Bull Terrier.
- Jennifer Hollis, New Brunswick: Hollis has entered Freja, a 3-year-old female Samoyed.
- Sheila Kandle, Bridgeton: Kandle has entered Evangeline, a 20-month-old female Brittany.
- Nancy Sherwood, East Windsor: Sherwood has entered a Ginny, a 2-year-old female Papillon.
- Denise and Scott Wilczewski, Wall Township: The Wilczewski’s have entered Roo, a 3-year-old male Komondor.

When is the Philadelphia Kennel Club’s National Dog Show
The 2023 National Dog Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, and Sunday, Nov. 19, and will be taped for telecast on Thanksgiving Day by NBC.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $7 for children between 4 and 11 years old.
Admission is free for children under three, and tickets to the 2023 National Dog Show are available to purchase online now.

Dog show organizers say the National Dog Show is now the only benched show in the nation, meaning all breeds can be found in designated locations throughout the day both Saturday and Sunday.
More than 200 breeds and varieties are eligible to compete for best of breed, first in group and best-in-show titles. All told, roughly 2,000 of the top American Kennel Club sanctioned dogs from across the country will compete in the National Dog Show.
The Woman’s Animal Shelter in Bensalem, the longtime animal center at 3839 Richlieu Road, will receive the “Dog’s Best Friend Award” during the National Dog Show.
The shelter will receive the award for its dedication to endangered animals.
The “Dogs Best Friend Award” also comes with a $5,000 donation, which the Women’s Animal Shelter will receive during the opening Saturday.
Going by last year’s winners, the competition will be stiff for the 2023 National Dog Show.
Last year’s winners include a medium-haired Barbet, a Belgian Tervuren, a Bracco Italiano, and an Irish Water Spaniel.
