Wayne Parlee (77), of Guelph, Ontario, suffered a severe heart attack and passed away on October 20, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts that Jennifer and the family of Wayne Parlee announce his sudden passing. Wayne was born in Apohaqui, New Brunswick and went on to earn his degree in Agricultural Economics in Nova Scotia and McDonald College in Montreal and his Masters of Science at Michigan State University. For the next 30+ years, he built his career with Agriculture Canada at various posts across Eastern Canada. All the while bringing his love of farming to the beautiful gardens he built with his wife Jennifer in each of their homes. After retirement, Wayne and Jennifer shared their time and love of gardening between two homes in Guelph, Ontario and Rexton, New Brunswick.
While Wayne left us far too soon, his legacy of playful escapades (so many!), dry sense of humour, work ethic and his generosity and support of our family lives on.
Wayne (also known as Dad, Pops, and Uncle Wayne) is survived by his wife: Jennifer, daughter: Kim, grandson: Billy, sister: Linda Parlee (Joe) nieces Keesha Wttewaall Van Wickenburgh (Conrad) and Heather Wttewaall Van Wickenburgh (Clint). and great nieces and nephews, Kate, Sophie, and Jarvis.
The family is planning a special celebration of life in Spring of 2024 at Wayne and Jennifer’s home in Guelph. He has turned their backyard into a lovely garden which we know he would love to share. (Details to be announced at later date).
Much of Wayne and Jennifer’s garden produce went to the local food bank in Richibucto, New Brunswick. If you would like to make a donation in Wayne’s memory, please consider: The Guelph Food Bank or Food Depot Alimentaire (Food assistance programs in New Brunswick).
