Peru: Foreign Affairs Ministry prioritizes positive, proactive foreign policy agenda | Noticias

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has entered a stage that prioritizes a positive and proactive foreign policy agenda in favor of the country’s development and contributes to addressing global challenges, Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi said on Monday.

The government official attended the Congress Foreign Affairs Commission this morning to present the guidelines of the country’s foreign policy, foreign relations, and cooperation, among other topics of relevance to the sector.

The Cabinet member pointed out that, at the beginning of her administration, intensive work was carried out before the international community in order to communicate and clarify the events that occurred in the country on December 7, in which an attempt was made to subvert democratic institutions.

In this regard, she noted that, thanks to diplomatic actions carried out at the highest level and with the support of missions abroad, the image of Peru was safeguarded, reaffirming the resilience of its democratic institutions.

“We are currently in a stage that prioritizes a positive and proactive foreign policy agenda in favor of the country’s development and that contributes to addressing the major challenges on the global agenda,” Minister Gervasi remarked.

Likewise, she underscored that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been implementing strategic objectives to promote the country’s external image, strengthen integration processes, modernize services in favor of Peruvian nationals abroad, contribute to economic reactivation, and enhance cooperation actions.

“Our country projects, at an international level, values and principles that govern our republican life, such as the rule of law, democracy, human rights, regional integration as a means of well-being for citizens, among others,” she underlined.

Likewise, the Foreign Affairs sector’s head stated that during her participation at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte reaffirmed Peru’s commitment to achieving better standards of living and sustainable development.
